Thank you for the fast reply!

One more question, how much was the total floss cost. I did an estimate and it was over 300USD. Let me if thats sound correct. thank you

    1. LordLibidan

Hard to say based on price of threads, which brand, etc. Estimates I’ve had fomr a few people that have completed it range from 200 to 600 USD.

    Hello LordLibidan,

In your guide “how to stitch like a rockstar”, the GIF displays Cross Stitching diagonal 3×3. Did you go that route or the 2×2 for your Gen 1 pokemon? Also, why did you use Aida 14 and not Aida 18?

    Thank you,

    1. LordLibidan

      Hi Hang Li,
The GIF is an example; personally I use 1-over-1 (1×1).
The aida size is normally standardised to 14 count, I personally tend to use 16 count for many of my stitches. You can use any size you want. 18 count is obviously smaller, so harder to stitch on.
      Hope that helps!

The finish size that is above the block where you download the pattern differs from the finish size in the pattern template. What size fabric should be bought to do this design?

    1. LordLibidan

The finished peice will be 18.3″ x 32.1″ or 46.4cm x 81.6cm on 14ct. The pattern file is slightly incorrect due to a bug in the code when the pattern was made.

Just downloaded the pattern, where it says ct on the threads what does that mean? So for dmc 155 it has in brackets (846ct) how many threads will I need to buy? Many thanks katy

    1. LordLibidan

Hi, this is the number of stitches each color has. So in your example there are 846 stitches in DMC155. It’s used to help people work out how much floss to buy.
How much you need to buy depends on how economical you are with your thread. I personally estimate 200 stitches is about one 8m skein. This can vary a lot though if stitches are far way from each other, and if you tie off regularly, or ‘jump stitch’. When I first started I got about 100 stitches to one 8m skein.

      1. Katy Corrie Street

Lovely thank you! I tend to stitch each ten by ten square as I go so I don’t make any mistakes. Think I will buy one of each to begin with. Many thanks!

      2. Margo

Hello! When you say 8m skein is that for DMC? I have not yet bought any threads myself so I am not sure. The shop I am most likely to buy it from says the thread is 8 m long per strand, so around 48 m since one floss is made up of 6 strands. Do you get 200 stitches with the 48 m or 200 with 8 m? I have calculated my pattern to be over 500 euro if the 200 stitches per floss rule is applied. Is this accurate then? this would help me a lot, thank you!

      3. LordLibidan

        Hi there!
All standard threads are sold as one long 8m long thread. You’re correct though, there are actually 6 strands within each of these. However, depending on the count of fabric you intend to stitch on, you might be required to stitch with two of these strands. For 14 count, we suggest two strands. Therefore its hard to be specific how many stitches you’ll get out of a full 8m skein. You can find a table here that will help: https://lordlibidan.com/how-many-stitches-can-you-get-out-of-a-8m-skein/
If you work on 14 count aida, aim for 1650 stitches with a full 8m skein.
I don’t know what the price is like in Europe for DMC, but that cost seems a little bit high to me. I would suggest shopping around for a cheaper supplier. Alternatively, you could look to get CXC threads. These are MUCH cheaper, but are a cotton-poly blend rather than just cotton.

      4. Margo

thank you very much for your fast reply. If I can make about 1400-1650 stitches per skein that would diminish my price to just about 100 euros, so that is a LOT more affordable. Thank you very much!

Are the blank spaces just white?
