Love these patterns and been wanting to do one for years! This year I will finally have a go at the extended Gen 1 pattern but will be using pixel art instead of thread! Just trying to work out the right colours at the moment!

Can I please ask if there is work being done on extended versions of the later generations as I think the look is superior and would like to think I could have a matching set of them all if this first one goes well!!!

    1. LordLibidan

I’m afraid there aren’t any plans to make the extended versions of other generations at the moment. You’re the first person to ask actually! I don’t think many people do more than 1…

    2. LordLibidan

Shadow_Nova saw your comment and helped us out! We now have extended versions of all the generations published!

      1. Munty

That is amazing thank you so much! I have downloaded all other extended patterns and am currently about 1/6 of the way through the black on my Gen 1! I will share it when it’s done, won’t be any time soon though! Many thanks to Shadow_Nova!

    Hello

First of all thank you for these very beautiful pokemon cross stitch paintings
I will soon finish generation 7
My son and I can’t wait to see Generation 8

    1. LordLibidan

We’ve already made the pattern, it’s just being checked for errors.
We also want to wait until after the 25th anniversary of Pokemon (February 27th) to make sure there are no new pokemon in Generation 8!

    2. Shadow_Nova

      Hey Vanessa,

I’m the creator of the Gen 7 pattern and would love to see the final result when you’ve finished it!

      Gratefully,
      Shadow_Nova

Hi there, I saw this on Tik Tok and wanted to tackle this challenge! I have never cross stitched … so I wanted to cover all my bases to help make this project go smoothly haha I read through a lot of the comments and was hoping to ask some questions >_<

I will be trying the extended version of the pattern

    1. Opinion on using black Aida ? will it make a difference if you are stitching every square?

    2. Would 14 count, 16 count or 18 count work better? in the pattern using 14 count makes the finished product 84.38 x 133.77 cm but some comments mentioned it was actually a different size?

    3. When talking about using 2 strands… does this mean using 2 threads? I saw on a comment "All standard threads are sold as one long 8m long thread. You’re correct though, there are actually 6 strands within each of these" Does this mean you buy one long 8m thread but divide it into 2 treads?

    4. Any other advice on how to tackle this project is welcome!

Thank you again for answering these question as I know they have been asked in past comments.

This is a very large project for your first stitch! I would suggest stitching some individual pokemon first, just to get you acquainted with the hobby. It’s just stitching in little Xs, but it’s worth practicing on something else before you start with this one!
But, happy to answer your questions!
1 – I assume you don’t want to stitch the background? If so, there’s no problem stitching it on black aida. However, you might want to increase the strands to 3 if using black; it gets better coverage.
2 – Any, it’s up to you! The “count” basically means how many stitches there are in an inch if you stitch in a line. 14 count has 14 stitches. This means that 16 and 18 count have smaller stitches, and the whole thing ends up being smaller. The count you use is up to you and depends on how large you want the final thing to be, and how much you like dealing with small stitches. 14 count is the average that most people pick. I personally stitch with all three counts though.
3 – So when you buy thread it’s called a “skein” it’s an 8m long “thread”. However, the thread is made up of 6 separate strands which are easy to split apart. When people suggest using 2 strands, they mean you put 2 of those 6 strands into your needle and stitch with that. As mentioned above, if using black or dark aida, we would suggest using 3 of these 6 strands.
4 – No advice really, but I would warn you that this is BIG. It takes seasoned cross stitchers years to finish. I’m not saying don’t try, cross stitch is an amazing hobby, but I thought I better warn you that you’re starting with a big task. It’ll feel like you’re not making progress sometimes, and other times making loads; that’s just how cross stitch is. Don’t get disheartened!
Hope that helps, and happy stitching!

Thank you so much for the reply this has helped a lot! I will definitely do some smaller pieces first to get the feel for it 🙂 and then move on to this project. This advice will help a lot once I start this project, thank you so much for the quick reply!

  4. Emily

Hi there, I did cross stitch when I was very little but, since haven’t picked it up. I’m wanting to challenge myself and have seen this as a long term project but, I’ve never bought anything via the internet so, am unsure how to find the right colours etc and what exactly I need to do. Is each section 1/28 2/28 etc all A4 pages or…? I’m unclear how this will print out.

    1. LordLibidan

      Hey Emily,
Each page is A4, and will print one 28th of the whole image. Each page sits next to each other, and (other than page 1) all pages include a 3 line border showing you what the previous page had (to help align them correctly).
In regards to the threads, there is a thread list at the end of the pattern telling you what color codes to buy. We can’t advise on the volume of thread due to variances in how people stitch, so you may have to buy more as you go.
Hope this helps, and happy stitching!

      1. Emily

        Thank you, this really did!
Thank you so much for the prompt response.

Do you have extended versions of the next gens?
I like those more because you see all the pokemons

    1. LordLibidan

      Hi,
I’m afraid not. The extended version was made by someone else and we just host it.

    2. LordLibidan
