Star Wars Logo Mix Cross Stitch

Date Completed: October 2015
Design: Lord Libidan
Count: 14
Film: Star Wars
During the book design and sign off stage for our Star Wars cross stitch book we knew that the Rebel logo cross stitch and Imperial logo cross stitch needed to be designed. We made three designs and picked the best, but in order to get the sign-off, we were required to make 2 patterns. Cleverly we stitched half off each, and in photoshop mirrored each half to create the whole. I went back in the future to redo both separately, however, I still think this one is the best.

Created for a Star Wars cross stitch book proposal, this was the first in a series of stitches made for the book. It was designed a year before however and only stitched once the proposal started to come together as an example of what might be in the book.

Star Wars Dark Side Sampler Cross Stitch

Title: Dark Side Sampler
Date Completed: February 2016
Design: Lord Libidan
Count: 14
Film: Star Wars
Created for a Star Wars book proposal, this was the first in a series of stitches made for the book, however, wasn’t selected. It’s one of two parts for both the light and dark sides of the force. The two pieces are reminiscent of cold war era art deco posters and are made to both face each other as if they are about to fight. You can find the other one here.

Video Game: Pokemon

I was watching a youtube video and the vlogger brought themselves a pack of three pokemon in teacups. These Japanese edition toys are SUPER hard to get in the UK (belive me, I tried), and so I wanted to stitch it instead. Unlike most of my stuff instead of creating image from scratch I placed together existing sprites, like my surfing pikachu and Pokemon battle cross stitch. I reshaped the tea cup and the shading was terrible, but with a little change of sizes to fit a little better and it now looks super cute!

Pokemon Great Wave Cross Stitch by Lord Libidan

Pokemon Great Wave Cross Stitch
Title: The Great Wave
Date Completed: October 2016
Design: Lord Libidan
Count: 16
Video Game: Pokemon

I love Japan. That shouldn’t be too surprising to hear if you read my site regularly. In the past I’ve taken the traditional Japanese print style and created cross stitches out of it, like my Japanese Gengar cross stitch. However, I’ve never done a faithful rendition of the style.

A while ago I went to the museum in London and saw a print of the Great Wave, and it’s stuck in my head for a while, maybe a year or more. I recently remembered it when I saw missypena’s Great Wave Off Kanto posters.
I remade the two images, combined them, and edited them to fit the original slightly better. This work took maybe 200 hours or more and is by far the largest piece I have completed. However, I think it might be my best to date.

Thankfully my work with the great wave came in super handy, as its one of the artworks featured in my Fine Art Cross Stitch book!

The Best Geeky Cross Stitch

Cross stitch is inherently geeky, however with more and more people releasing their inner geek; we’ve had some epic cross stitches.

Star Trek has long been in the realm of geeks, but with recent movies its become more and more popular, however its still firmly geeky. This sampler shows everything geeky about the series, with all its cross stitch glory!
This pattern actully came from the Star Trek Cross Stitch book myself and John Lohman put together:

Game Of Thrones Pokemon Mashup

Game of Thrones brought geek to the every day with the awesome books and TV series, however back when it was just into its first series this amazing piece was made. Sure, it doesn’t subscribe to the R+L=J theory, but its great use of a pre-existing Pokemon set makes it geeky in the extreme.

Harry Potter Crests

The Potter books and movies are great, but their attention to detail is what makes them really stand out. The production team even managed to create perfect house crests, which were quickly picked up, pixelized, and cross stitched. However, their HUGE size stopped people in their tracks, but making 4 of the things and then making pillows; there must have been magic involved.

Epic Pokemon

I’ve mentioned Pokemon above, and I use it a lot in my work, but the sheer size of this piece is mind blowing. The pattern was made over on the SpriteStitch forums, it’s been started (and even finished) a dozen times, but the image above was the first, and gives a great idea of its huge 4.5 foot size.

Talking huge; hows a 9 foot long cross stitch of the entire original Star Wars trilogy? OK, its not actually a tapestry as its purely cross stitch, but damn its cool.

Glow In The Dark Spiderman

This Spiderman stitch deserves a place on this list anyway, however with its clever use of glow in the dark thread it really pops.

I don’t like to post rude stitches on this site, but the cult classic Alien has to be on the list. It’s summed up the tone of the film perfectly.

Fifth Element Multipass Cross Stitch by Lord Libidan

“fifth
Title: Multipass
Date Completed: June 2016
Design: Lord Libidan
Count: 14
Canvas: Black
Colors: 18
Film: The Fifth Element

My all-time favorite movie is the fifth element, and in the past, I’ve stitched a few things, such as the ZF-1 blueprint cross stitch. I finally decided to buy the remastered version and watched it again, and it was roughly the same time when loot crate were sending out their multipass props, and I knew I had to stitch one up. It’s based on the screen accurate model, which has some unique data in it; like leelo being classed as a man…

I tried to match the details as best I could, however, I couldn’t resist; in the end, I had to pick up one of those loot crate props.
