About Lord Libidan

Lord Libidan is an award-winning cross stitch designer and “manbroiderer” (male embroiderer) whose work has been featured in over 25 international magazines, exhibited in 12 galleries globally, and showcased in the National Needlecraft Awards 2019. With six published books and cross stitch kits for major publishers, he brings over 20 years of experience pushing the boundaries of the craft.
He specialises in video game and contemporary cross stitch, often breaking the mold with innovative techniques — from playing with perspective to designing fully functional 3D Transformers.

Born to British Aristocracy, the man now known as Lord Libidan discovered the art of cross stitch while in a Buddhist monastery high in the Himalayan mountains. After meditating on the craft for years, he emerged from his retreat ready to challenge the prevailing paradigm and elevate embroidery to new levels. Focusing his talents on video game, pop culture and Japanese inspired cross stitches, he produces work that pushes as the boundaries of the form.

Partnerships & Commissions

Over the years, I’ve partnered with a number of platforms and companies to bring cross stitch to a wider audience. I’ve worked with software developers, international brands, and stitching communities to create custom patterns, kits, and creative projects.

I’ve partnered with Ursa Software, creators of WinStitch and MacStitch, to include a range of built-in Lord Libidan patterns in their software.

I also collaborate regularly with Mr X Stitch, supporting exhibitions and other cross stitch projects beyond the blog.

Commission work has included licensed designs for brands like Sanrio (Hello Kitty), Disney (Classic Disney and Star Wars), and CBS (Star Trek), creating officially approved patterns for collectors and fans alike. While I no longer take private commissions, I’m open to business projects; especially those looking to do something a little different with cross stitch.
