This is another one I’ve been thinking about for years, and it doesn’t quite get solved either!
So the original idea I had was to make a cross stitch book. Not a book about cross stitch, but a cross stitched book.
Books have such a major part to play in so many video games, and I also draw and write my DND games down, so for me, a book that was cross stitched would be a perfect idea.
But then I languished for a long time, not sure what book to choose, or even how to make it.
But then I started playing Pokémon Legends: Arceus. In this game, you play Pokémon like standard, but it’s set in ancient Japan. As you may know from my Japanese-inspired cross stitches, I’m a big fan of this period and setting. So it only made sense for me to stitch something.
But the something in question also took ages to come to me! You see, one of the big things I disliked about the game was the lack of torii gates. This prompted me to stitch my infinite torii gate cross stitch, and I kind of forgot about both the idea of a book and stitching something from this game.

But when the next Pokémon Legends game was announced, things started to fit into place.
I came up with the idea of stitching the Pokédex from the game, which was put together using a traditional Japanese book method, alleviating the issue of how to make a book. So I stitched a few test pieces together, and hated them all!
But then I saw an awesome video from When Geeks Craft who made her own book (not out of cross stitch).
Using some of the ideas I got from her video, I put together a plan myself.

The book itself is actually impossible, with pages that change, and photos (even though it was in ancient Japan). So I played around with the inside slightly, limiting the colors, and adapted the outside to work a little better (there is a lack of clarity in the language on the front). Making this an interpretation of an ancient Pokémon Pokédex cross stitch.

I still feel the need to stitch a book though…
Fun fact: This is the second Pokédex I’ve stitched! The other one was a 90s anime style 3D Pokédex cross stitch, and there is one in my Pokemon Tattoo cross stitch.
Happy stitching,
Lord Libidan
