When I saw this pattern I had an urge to stitch it. It only took a week, and I positioned it for a frame I’ve had floating around a while.
The pattern is not my own.

When I first saw this t-shirt pattern I fell in love with it, so I just had to stitch it. I had to do a lot of work with the image to get it into a nice pattern, and then had to edit the image some more in order to get it looking right, but I kept the feel of the original by only putting 6 colors in it.

This was the main part of my swap gift for Sprite Stitch’s Swap 2011. My partner was riotpatch, and one of her favorite games was assassin’s creed. I love the series too but have never got around to stitching anything for it, so thought it would be a brilliant idea to do something related to them. I got playing with some ideas and decided I would try and hide a secret message in the poster (like the games do), so its the assassin’s logo, and in morse code is written “riotpatch”.

This was for another craft swap on Sprite Stitch, this one was for riotpatch! This was the secondary bit of my swap stuff, the other one was the Abstergo glow in the dark poster I did, but these were just for fun.
They are pins of Altair and Ezio from the assassin’s creed games, they’re about an inch high.

After doing my previous optimus prime cross stitch transformer, I wanted to continue the series. Many people related the Optimus Prime to a paper robot made by PaperRobots1999 (Sadly no longer active), however, they also had a few other photos of future projects which never happened due to the site closing. This was one of them, meaning I had to work out the pattern based off of a picture; for the first time ever.
Like optimus, its based on the original toy, so is a Macross VF-1S Valkyrie in generation 1 anime colors.

I have also made plans for a Soundwave cross stitch transformer which you can get on my etsy store.

If you look out for Cross Stitch Crazy Magazine, I will be published in their March issue!

You can buy this pattern on my Etsy shop and many other transformers, so go have a look! LINK

I love pokemon, as I may have said before, and I wanted to do something based on the original blue and red games, and when my chance came up with another Sprite Stitch competition, I couldn’t resist.
Results: I didn’t win, but I came VERY close. Maybe next time 😀

When someone in the SpriteStitch forum suggested the idea of a cross stitch for charity event, the reception was huge. After some initial ideas we decided on a quilt that would be made up of 20 cross stitch pieces. This would then be sold at the Child’s Play Charity auction, who give video games to terminally ill children.

I quickly came up with the idea of doing a screenshot from the Dig Dug game, as my recent soils of Dig Dug cross stitch went down so well. However unlike that one, or any other cross stitch up to this point, I had to stitch on 16 count. It was my first time changing the count, and honestly, it scared me, but when I started stitching I fell in love and since then have mostly stitched on other counts than 14.

I finished the piece, and whilst I was sad to see it go, I was proud to be part of the Childs Play Charity Quilt and happy that the final piece got over $2000 for the charity! I had actually planned to do another panel for the quilt but all that yellow took longer than I estimated and I had to give the idea up, although it later turned into my Pokemon Home Sweet Home cross stitch.

I tend to not revist patterns I’ve already done, in fact, other than my lightsaver blueprint cross stitch that later inspired a < href="https://lordlibidan.com/zf-1-blueprint-embroidery/">Fifth Element ZF-1 blueprint cross stitch and Saturn V blueprint cross stitch I’ve never revisited a pattern. In fact, it could be argued that those patterns only have a rough theme in common, as opposed to a revisit.

But then there is this pattern. I actually stitched it at the same time as another, the pokemon glyph cross stitch inspired by an ancient Mew playing card. However the reason I did two, was due to the failure of this cross stitch. Yes, I class it as a failure.

I saw an amazing Zelda inspired scroll by NurseTab on SpriteStitch, and I fell in love with the design. It just… worked. Using an ancient Mew card as my inspiration I took the back, the yellow part of the pattern and my intention was to graft it onto the scroll.

But it didn’t really work. Unlike NurseTab I chose to cross stitch onto black aida and the black started coming through the pale scroll color. This ruined the overall look.
Another failure on my part is that I didn’t take into account the yellow being on peach which barely stands out at all.

It’s somewhat obvious that I’m a Pokemon fan as per my other cross stitches. I was around during the big Pokemon crazes of the 90s, when as a kid we couldn’t get enough Pokemon in our lives. This also extended to Pokemon cards. And whilst they were banned in my school after someone stole a shiny Charizard, I still held onto my cards for years to come. OK, decades.

However one of my most prized, and still for that matter, was the free ancient Mew Pokemon card given away when you saw the first movie in cinemas. To me, it was amazing, and unlike the backs of the other cards, I loved how the different colors, representing the different energy cards, merged together into one.

Fast forward a decade, and I found it again. I had it hanging around, waiting to be stitched for a while, but it was only when a pattern by NurseTab caught my attention that I decided to stitch it. Unlike her pattern, however, mine didn’t really work, and whilst I used the Pokemon card back on my Pokemon scroll cross stitch, I really wanted to make sure the yellow pattern was more visible. So I stitched up one with the scroll.

Whilst I love cross stitch, when I was first starting out, I didn’t know if I loved cross stitch specifically or all embroidery. So when I saw a design from BigRedJake, devoted to a combination of Pokemon and TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), I fell in love. And I knew that embroidery was the way to go.

However, as a starter in the world of embroidery, I didn’t go too crazy, and only did outlines, rather than filling in the details. I liked it, but I didn’t like it as much as cross stitch, so it took me a whole three years before I tried my hand at embroidery again, with my Fallout 3 VATS embroidery. But I haven’t done any since then…
