Date Completed: November 2013
Design: Lord Libidan
Count: 18
Canvas: Black
Colors: 10
Video Game: Bioshock

The view of Rapture from the eyes of a mark 1 Big Daddy.
I’ve wanted to do a Bioshock stitch for a long time, and I was really interested in an online challenge using silhouettes.
The result is this, something that has been zooming around my brain for a few years.

Pokemon Triptych Cross Stitch by Lord Libidan

Date Completed: October 2013
Design: Lord Libidan
Count: 14
Canvas: Blue, Red & Green
Colors: 36
Video Game: Pokemon

I’ve been playing around with the idea for a triptych for years now, but never sat down and stitched one. And it was time I did so.
No sprite design has been needed in these stitches, they’re all HeartGold/SoulSilver sprites, but I really wanted to use brightly colored aida for a change. I was getting bored of white and black.

Count: 16
Canvas: White
Colors: 7
Video Game: Assassins Creed

Having stitched a lot of Pokemon recently, I wanted to go off it, and with the advent of the new Assassin’s game being about pirates, I got a little bit excited.
This is a traditional sampler with an Assassins creed theme, with a touch of glow in the dark thread thrown in to add effect.

In addition to a few cross stitch cases, I also saw two charms you insert into the audio jack. Throwing around a few ideas I came up with the idea of a spinner!

Skyrim iPhone Case Cross Stitch by Lord Libidan

Design: Lord Libidan
Count: 14
Canvas: Plastic
Colours: 1
Video Game: Skyrim

I had another iPhone case hanging around from my last stitch, and I thought I would put it to good use. Having been playing sky rim for ages, and still no where near complete enough for me (completionist nature, with an endless game doesn’t go well). I loved the look of the Darkness Returns achievement logo so I threw together a quick image, and added a Thu’um to the base.

Canvas: Plastic

I’ve seen a whole slew of iPhone case cross stitches out there. I was lucky enough to come across them at a local car boot sale, so I picked them up.
This pattern just came about after looking at the new Batman game trailer.
The term ‘nowhere to run’ isn’t actually said by Joker, but I think the image worked out well.

Title: Metroid Power Suit & Cannon Blueprints
Date Completed: September 2013
Design: Lord Libidan
Count: 18
Canvas: Black
Colors: 3
Video Game: Super Metroid

This was the main part of my swap gift for Sprite Stitch’s Swap 2013. My partner this year was BooChocoBoom. On her questions she showed a real interest in Super Metroid, and zombies. Having just started playing through Super Metroid only a week before, I thought a perfect opportunity.
Its a mix between a screen shot in the game, and extra work by myself for the arm cannon. Stitched on 18 count, which is a first for me. I really love the stark difference of bright green and bright purple against the black background, it really stands out.
I also wrote to her in the style of a top secret letter from the Galactic Federation, giving her the blueprints to defeat the Metroid and Zombie invasions. It has loads of references to her favourite games and tv shows, and is below if you want a read.

I came across the idea of a portrait stick through Portal and a challenge on SpriteStitch boards. When researching I found this amazing Gordon Freeman from Half Life sprite by Nicholas Smith, which I just had to use.
I really like the idea of portraits, and might do another soon.

Date Completed: August 2013

Canvas: White
Colors: 38
Video Game: Pokemon

After completing my Portal Tattoo stitch some time ago, it has become synonymous with my work. As a result, I wanted to stitch another.
Unlike the last one, I had to totally create a pattern from scratch, which includes my previous Pokedex, and a few other things I’ve been wanting to stitch for a long time, such as the Kanto region badges.

You can pick up the Pokemon Tattoo cross stitch pattern from my Etsy store!

3D Pokemon Cave Cross Stitch by Lord Libidan

Title: Pokemon Cave
Date Completed: June 2013
Design: Lord Libidan
Canvas: Plastic
Colors: 11
Video Game: Pokemon

This has been in the planning for more than a year before I started, and took almost 6 months to complete.
The reason it took so long is simply the challenge of having such a piece come out at you on plastic caves, on a 45-degree angle (plastic canvas means you can only use 90 or 0/180 degrees). However, after giving up on the project a total of three times, I finally worked out a way to do it.
It’s based upon a series of works by the painter John Wilson after I saw a few of his pieces in a local art store. The effect should be that the cave looks to go inwards, and when you move your head (or the camera), the cave goes with it, forcing perspective, whilst all the time, it comes out at you.
