Hot off the tails of another sky blue aida project, my Bender NFT cross stitch, and just before I start another big project (which will be a Japanese print similar to mySnow At A Guest House On Ponds Edge cross stitch I wanted to do a quick stitch.
I have a big old book filled with partial ideas, after getting some cross stitch insiration for other projects, but I realised, despite stitching up Futurama pieces a lot, I’ve not once moved into The Simpsons. And while the yellow family has gone downhill in the last few decades, I even mentioned back in my 2017 cross stitch trends roundup that I thought we’d see more and more 90s show references in cross stitch form.
And while we’ve seen a lot of Homer disappearing into bushes, I thought I would bring to life one of the more interesting characters from the show; the three-eyed blinky fish!
Interestingly, while the fish altered by nuclear discharge is from the Simpsons, he’s also featured in a few episodes of Futurama too!
I’ve also been seeing a few instagram posts lately of people making stickers, and wanted to give that a try, so I’ve added a white border around Blinky to make him stand out a bit more. I think it works well, but I’m not convinced on the style.
