When I was approached by one of my favorite online cross stitch stores, Lakeside Needlecraft, to supply a Summer themed cross stitch design for their upcoming Summer Cross Stitch Pattern Book, my love for all things Japanese jumped into my brain!

I remember when going to Japan, they have koi swimming in their drainage system of traditional villages. These koi would be wonderfully colored, and swim around all day, making things look so serene and peaceful.
So I tried to capture that feeling for my design.
