Hello, thanks so much for your excel list! I’m beginner-to-be in cross stitching, working out my little plan for my first “masterpiece” . Me being admin assistant started with building a system and searching for info on how to organize things , how many colors are there, what do I need, what I don’t need etc., and your blog is excellent for this. Are you using a phone? Depending on your phone’s settings, it can block excel sheets from downloading.
Your email took up my whole afternoon tracking down what I might need to stock up on, as we are in a pandemic and I may NEED “that particular thread”.
What I did notice was not in the spreadsheet was DMC Tropical Glow. They were sold as a set. The colors were:
Lemon Zest E985
Tangerine Zing E1024
Melon Blast E995
Raspberry Rush E1055
Blueberry Blast E1026
Key Lime Splash E987
Do you know their backstory?
Ha! Those threads. There are actually a bunch, I’ve added them to the sheet. We’re struggling to work out when they were made, where they were sold, or even if they’re still in production. Weirdly, despite French being on the box, they don’t appear to have been sold in France.
Very odd threads.
The back of the box has a New Jersey address, but says they were made in France, as one would expect. They were sold in the USA. Don’t remember when I bought it and there is no date on any of the packaging.
Could have something to do with Quebec, not France, but I have no idea.
I am confused. Does coloris replace the variegated ones? Will all the variegated colors disappear. There are fewer coloris numbers than variegated.
No, they’re different threads. DMC will keep both.
Variegated slowly changes from one color to another along its length, but Coloris is a sharper, quicker change in color.
