  1. Thank you for this wonderful list! As someone who is trying to collect them all — would you even try to collect the ones that are astrisked?

  2. Hello, thanks so much for your excel list! I’m beginner-to-be in cross stitching, working out my little plan for my first “masterpiece” . Me being admin assistant started with building a system and searching for info on how to organize things , how many colors are there, what do I need, what I don’t need etc., and your blog is excellent for this. Thanks again for making your thoughts and conclusions available to ppl like me, saving my time and $! Stay safe, and happy stitching! Greetings from Canada, Oksana

  3. Is there a known issue with this document? I can’t access it no matter what I click…

  4. Your email took up my whole afternoon tracking down what I might need to stock up on, as we are in a pandemic and I may NEED “that particular thread”.

What I did notice was not in the spreadsheet was DMC Tropical Glow. They were sold as a set. The colors were:

    Lemon Zest E985
    Tangerine Zing E1024
    Melon Blast E995
    Raspberry Rush E1055
    Blueberry Blast E1026
    Key Lime Splash E987

    Do you know their backstory?

    1. Ha! Those threads. There are actually a bunch, I’ve added them to the sheet. We’re struggling to work out when they were made, where they were sold, or even if they’re still in production. Weirdly, despite French being on the box, they don’t appear to have been sold in France.
      Very odd threads.

      1. The back of the box has a New Jersey address, but says they were made in France, as one would expect. They were sold in the USA. Don’t remember when I bought it and there is no date on any of the packaging.

  5. I am confused. Does coloris replace the variegated ones? Will all the variegated colors disappear. There are fewer coloris numbers than variegated.

    1. No, they’re different threads. DMC will keep both.
Variegated slowly changes from one color to another along its length, but Coloris is a sharper, quicker change in color.

  6. I can’t thank you enough for making this! I have been looking everywhere for a chart to organize the floss i have and what i need.
I know it took a lot of time and effort on your part. Thank you so much! 🙂

  7. Belinda:

There seems to be an extra number on the 4 dmc colors. dmc has only 4 nbrs. could they be anothe brand

  8. Thank you for your useful charts and working on the updates. I still have 4 DMC skeins that I can’t find so I’m figuring they have been discontinued quite a while ago: 30414, 30415, 30762 and 33371.

    What do you think?

I really enjoy your blog and wish you all the best.

    1. Those are some interesting threads. So the 30— range was a rayon range replaced with the satin range afterwards. This included S414, S415, S762 and S3371, the threads you’re looking for. You can still pick these up from some retailers, but not from DMC direct, however, they haven’t said they’ve discontinued any threads in the satin range. We do intend to add these to the list, but we know there are others out there too (up to 8) however we’re struggling to find them…

  9. Thank you for taking the time to do all this! Do you have a list/chart of the DMC Satin Floss? I’m just trying to make sure that my personal list is complete. Thank you again!

      1. Hi, I think you are missing S909? – it’s a very dark emerald green.
Thanks for the spreadsheet – it is proving very useful!
