It’s been a while since I’ve been able to show off some of my own cross stitch pieces. I’ve been working on a few secret projects, and some patterns for the Xstitch Magazine, but I’m finally able to show something off that I actually stitched this month!
 
When the new series of Futurama came out, I went through all the old series too. And I kind of fell in love all over again!
Whilst this was definitely not the first time I’d stitched something from Futurama, both my Futurama Home Sweet Home Sampler Cross Stitch and my Planet Express Ship Blueprint Embroidery where rather generic designs. I wanted to do something a little more… real.
 
Roll on to one of my favorite episodes, ‘Fry and the Slurm Factory’ and I suddenly had the perfect idea: a real-life Slurm can!
It wasn’t without its issues though. Firstly, it wouldn’t hold much shape, so I designed it as a cozy for a standard can. Secondly, there weren’t actually any can designs out there, so I had to come up with some of my own!
And finally; the biggest issue of them all; I had to make a cylinder that didn’t have a nasty break in it. And I think I did a rather good job at hiding that:
 

 
I also combined this with another secret project for the Xstitch Mag you’ll see in a few months, and it came together rather nicely!
