I try to play with dimensions and perspectives whenever I can with cross stitch. From red/blue 3D cross stitch to cross stitch that looks like it goes in when it doesn’t, I’ve always done what I can to master the 3rd and 4th dimensions in cross stitch. But there has always been one dimension that has evaded me; for 2 decades in fact; the infinite mirror.
Back when I was first cross stitching I came up with two mad ideas; a transforming doll cross stitch and an infinite mirror cross stitch. I completed one of those almost straight away; I was too foolish to know the limitations of plastic canvas so just went for it!
But the second one had always been a sticking point for me.

I had originally come up with the idea to make some form of infinite mine shaft. Then an infinite maze using Pac-Man, but repeatedly I came across the same issues; getting the two-way mirror.
For some reason, it was only able to be glass and cost an arm and a leg, which I wasn’t willing to spend on a whim that might fail.
But recent changes in acrylic coverings made this not only possible but super cheap!
In comes my final attempt at an infinite mirror, using a super cheap kit from Temu of a mine (ironic considering it was my original idea.
However, this time I wanted to do something a little different. I’m still on my massive Japanese kick, and I regularly look through Japanese prints and photos from my trip to Japan back in 2011, I always fall in love with the torii gates at Fushimi Inari Shrine.

So in an ode to the Japanese shrine that really sparked my love of Japan, I finally planned this out.
And I really shouldn’t have waited… It’s awesome!
I should have made one all those years ago…
This project also marks the first use of black plastic canvas for me, which I’m pretty sure is a knock off of Darice’s plastic canvas, but I hope draws the attention towards the stitched areas.
Do you think I should make another, maybe of a Pac-Man maze, or infinite mine shaft?
Happy stitching,
Lord Libidan

Your 3D cross stitch is always so incredible, and this is no less.
That is sooooo cool! How tall is it?
Just a smidge under 6 inches.
