One of my major interests is retro futurism, and art of the era, and I wanted to make a pattern which sort of holds the enthusiasm that was around at the time. I have made larger patterns, which I think look a lot better and have that real retro art deco poster feel to them, which are on my list of projects to stitch, but sadly I keep getting new patterns in my head and it gets pushed further and further back.

This is based on a tshirt on threadless called “A Simple Plan” which is one of their best sellers, I changed the sprites to be correct (As I’m not selling it I don’t have to bother with copywrite laws :D) and so the colours pop out. Currently hanging on my wall.

Colours: 4
Video Game: Fire N Ice

I really loved this game after playing it on an emulator, and some americans will know it as fire n ice, where as us europeans called it soloman’s key 2, on the snes. Seeing as the game was so simple I wanted to reflect that in the design. I hope to make other fire n ice patterns too.

I sort of fell upon this idea by accident, after my last stitch, but apparently quite a few people like it, so I can’t complain 😛 After my Space Invader Pacman Ghostbuster cross stitch I realised just how similar in size the sprites were. Up to this point I’d put all of my own patterns on one file, and so I had a lot of sprites mixed together. I started splitting them out, and after realising that my future Fire n Ice cross stitch project wasn’t the same size of the others, I started trying random other games. In the end I picked by three favorite 8 bit games.

I was planning on doing another for different games originally, I planned for Galactican, Racer X and Asteroids, however after making the pattern, and coming up with loads of other options, I never got around to stitching it. However, I did make the retro 8bit cross stitch pattern avalible with over 50 different combinations.

Fallout Nuka Cola Diarama

Nuka Cola Diarama 1

I can honestly say that Fallout 3 has to be one of the best games I’ve ever played (you can probably tell by all the Fallout cross stitch I’ve done) and so on a bit of a weird decision I decided to create a Nuka Cola bottle. Over time this expanded to include a lit up Nuka Cola Quantum, with LEDs in the based to light it up.
I added in some Nuka Cola caps with painted logos, and a fantastic Nuka Cola poster in the background.

Hidden Book Safe Cross Stitch Kit

Tool Book Safe Hussif

When I first started cross stitch I hated how many tools I had lying around the place. To combat this problem I decided to make a hidden book safe come hussif (sewing kit). Instead of cutting the pages, which might cause problems due to the sharp needles and scissors, I layered foam sheets.

This worked really well, and until I started updating my sewing kit, worked very well. I had intended to create this as a bit of a proof of concept, with the next one being larger, however since then my kit has exploded in size and I never got around to creating it.
