Mr X Stitch Exhibition in Bedford

Lord Libidan's 3D Cross Stitch at the Mr X Stitch Exhibition in Bedford

Over the last few weeks I had been approached by Mr X Stitch to be featured in his first exhibition, in Bedford, UK. He was curating a contemporary needlework show at a pop up shop on the Bedford High Street.

The colourful exhibition in the BedPop shop featured sewn works from Bedford, and around the globe, and had pieces which range from the whimsical to thought-provoking but all display extraordinary skill with a needle and thread… Jamie (Mr X Stitch) has been working for two months gathering the pieces, some he sourced via his stitching website (www.mrxstitch.com), others have been submitted by the Bedford branch of the Embroiderer’s Guild.”

Having loved Skyrim, I really wanted to do it justice with a large scale stitch. Whilst I had done a phone cover, it wasn’t as epic as I wanted.
When researching threads I came across Kreinik’s holographic threads. It didn’t take me long to liken the shimmering threads to mystic etching, and so the ruined Lexicon cube popped right into my head.
Wanting to make it a little more interesting, the corner pieces are raised, and so is the middle ring on each side. The holds the centre circle, which can spin.

Final Fantasy is one of my all time favourite game series, but I’ve never stitched anything from it. I always felt that its been over done in cross stitch.
I somehow lost my old bookmark that was based upon a final fantasy hand, and thought I’d come up with something myself!

The view of Rapture from the eyes of a mark 1 Big Daddy.
I’ve wanted to do a Bioshock stitch for a long time, and I was really interested in an online challenge using silhouettes.
The result is this, something that has been zooming around my brain for a few years.

I’ve been playing around with the idea for a triptych for years now, but never sat down and stitched one. And it was time I did so.
No sprite design has been needed in these stitches, they’re all HeartGold/SoulSilver sprites, but I really wanted to use brightly coloured aida for a change. I was getting bored of white and black.

Having stitched a lot of Pokemon recently, i wanted to go off it, and with the advent of the new Assassin’s game being about pirates, I got a little bit excited.
This is a traditional sampler with an Assassins creed theme, with a touch of glow in the dark thread thrown in to add effect.

I had another iPhone case hanging around from my last stitch, and I thought I would put it to good use. Having been playing sky rim for ages, and still no where near complete enough for me (completionist nature, with an endless game doesn’t go well). I loved the look of the Darkness Returns achievement logo so I threw together a quick image, and added a Thu’um to the base.

I’ve seen a whole slew of iPhone case cross stitches out there. I was lucky enough to come across them at a local car boot sale, so picked them up.
This pattern just came about after looking at the new Batman game trailer.
The term ‘nowhere to run’ isn’t actually said by Joker, but I think the image worked out well.
