Date Completed: June 2013
Design: Lord Libidan
Canvas: Plastic
Colours: 11
Video Game: Pokemon

This has been in the planning for more than a year before I started, and took almost 6 months to complete.
The reason it took so long is simply the challenge of having such a piece come out at you on plastic caves, on a 45 degree angle (plastic canvas means you can only use 90 or 0/180 degrees). However, after giving up on the project a total of three times, I finally worked out a way to do it.
Its based upon a series of works by the painter John Wilson after I saw a few of his pieces in a local art store. The effect should be that the cave looks to go inwards, and when you move your head (or the camera), the cave goes with it, forcing perspective, whilst all the time, it comes out at you.

This is another one I had to keep quiet about. One of these is in the upcoming Star Trek book! These were designed to go together but were thrown out last minute as they aren’t actually meant to go together. I loved the composition, even if it should technically go together, so stitched it anyway!

I’m Published in the Star Trek Cross Stitch Book!

When I gave embroidery a try last year, it was a bit too simple for my liking. However, I got inspiration to try again after seeing a piece in the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
This is based upon the iconic VATS system in Fallout 3 and New Vegas.

This was actually a test I’ve had planned for just over a year. The sprite has been split into multiple levels and stitched on plastic canvas on top of each other, making the sprite look like its coming out of the page, and that the perspective it correct.
Whilst it does work, I think scaling up of this idea would not.
The sprite was a combination of Pokemon Red/Blue and Gold/Silver main characters.

I’m in Cross Stitcher Designer Stitches Bookazine!

After being in the Cross Stitcher last year, when they looked into the idea of doing a bookazine, they asked me to be one of the ‘to watch’ artists! Take that!

This one was for another Sprite Stitch competition and was a welcome break to the epic project I’m currently working on.
The brief was originally minimalism, but it kind of got out of hand.
Its based upon a joke in Fallout 3 where a vault is filled with clones all named Gary.
