Despite the years of cross stitch I had under my belt, I’d never used waste canvas. This idea was originally planned to use it just to test myself more than anything, however quite quickly I realized I couldn’t get the journal wet. I shoved it in my cross stitch kit for a while and forgot about it.
 
After a lot of foundering, I came across the work of Severija and loved the way she cross stitched directly onto objects (mostly using a drill). I didn’t need a drill for this project, but I thought it would be a great example of her style. So much in fact that I also created a blog piece on how to cross stitch on objects without plastic canvas.
