Pop Culture: World Animation Challenge
When I completed my animated Pikachu running cross stitch back in 2019 I had imagined that animated cross stitch would be a common thing. And it totally did!
Not only was I able to put together an awesome selection of the best animated cross stitch, but I even dabbled a few times myself, with things like my neon sign animated cross stitch.
But there was a master of the animated cross stitch; poignetamour.
In 2021, Stéphane (Lebarbu-qui-brode) and Juliet (wiwig) contacted Maison du Canvas and Broderie to suggest a somewhat unique idea. They wanted to launch a collaborative project across Instagram, where people would stitch up a single scene that would be put together into an animated cross stitch video. And who did they select as their poster child? A duck!
planCanard was their first attempt, with over 80 people joining in on the adventure, however, they built on this with planRenard and planTetard, bringing in over 300 per attempt.
And they’re back this year with another; planCalmar! I had always wanted to be part of one of their projects, but life had always got in the way when they were planning them, however this time I got on board early!
