Sometimes, it takes longer to make a pattern than stitch it! This is one of those very examples.
I love arcade games, and whilst I’ve regularly cross stitched Dig Dug, I went to a retro arcade recently and fell in love with a lesser known game; Time Pilot.
It’s a game where you take a super advanced spaceship through time to defeat a series of enemies to test out your ship. It has five levels; 1910, 1940, 1970, 1982 and 2001 (which has flying saucers!?). However, there was an extra level added on a Gameboy release of prehistoric times.
Taking inspiration from my retro trio cross stitch I wanted to display each of the levels. The original idea was to have banners of different backgrounds (each level has a different color) but finding a dark purple aida is next to impossible, and it honestly didn’t look great! So I pushed the backgrounds away and replaced it with black instead.

I used a “Z” style design to draw your eye down across each ship starting from oldest and moving to your ship at the end.
I must admit, I think this works rather well and I’m glad to bring some more eyes to Time Pilot.
What arcade game do you think doesn’t have enough focus? Maybe I’ll stitch that up too!
Happy stitching,
Lord Libidan
